The best Goal Setting Seminars out there- my personal experience and advice.

Why is it profitable and essential to attend those events?

Our world is full of seminars that can help you find the inner clarity you most likely need to grow. To achieve emotional and financial freedom, to know what that freedom means to you, to know yourself better and be closer to finding what makes you happy.

If you have a mentor or a coach, friend who has walked the path you want to go, knows the world from the beautiful side, who has experienced ups and downs, and always came back much stronger… you will know instantly that it is possible to treat the events in your life as experience, and benefit from them, instead of sliding into depression. You do not need much more. The rest you will find by yourself. Everything else is strategy, techniques.

The true success- goal setting seminar is not the one that gives you the tools, but shows you your own truly boundless power and intelligence.

In my life I took part in a few seminars. Two of them were important. I would recommend them to you as the clear platforms for personal growth.  And suggest two other programs recommended to me by my friends.

In the process of Goal Setting, clarity is power.  If you understand or feel what you want, what makes you happy, it is far easier to set goals and achieve them. The seminars mentioned below are not known as goal setting events, but rather personal empowerment. From there, you have a clear path to go, as an independent person, able to create…

The first real seminar I took part in was Breakthrough to Success by Christopher Howard.

It tool place in London, UK. Three days of learning about human mind, history of achievement and training sessions. What made that particular seminar so special, was that knowledge was mixed with practice, and it was really easy to understand. You worked with yourself on clarifying your life’s purpose, knowing your limitations and learning to eliminate them , discovering negative believes, and many more issues. You cooperated with others. It was an amazing seminar I would have  recommend to anybody if it had not been stopped. It is not conducted any more.

The next enriching and truly life-changing event was Unleash the Power Within by Anthony Robbins and Joseph McClendon III.

It took part in Rimini, Italy, late September this year. Four days of total empowerment. Tony and Joseph used the time to help people understand their true abilities. By showing how physical strength, posture, well-being is linked to your emotional power. Plus you learned about the way to total life’s satisfaction and health. The teachers have achieved that in their lives fully. You use only a small fraction of your mind’s capabilities, and the seminar expanded the feeling of personal unstoppability. They know that it is possible… and that you can have it too.  Very often it is the key to success. Knowing that… it is possible, you just need to find your OWN way, and make the world a more beautiful one, by showing who you really are. Two other seminars that my friends recommended to me are:

Slinton Swaine’s “Play to Win”,

Which is a three day seminar, that reaches the goal setting process by teaching you how to think outside the box(“what if there were no limits?”), become more creative, resourceful, how to develop great relationships with people and build teams, breakthrough your comfort zones. Clinton reminds you that life is about growth… face the challenges, and  learn from them.

The fourth seminar I want to mention to you is Millionaire Mind Intensive. By T. Harv Eker. 

It is related to your financial consciousness, but shows you what is known about human mind and how it operates. How to achieve your goals, even if you are in deep trouble, and the solutions do not seem to be near. Eker talks about how to stop the blame game, take control of your finances, change your focus, create the path to financial freedom, and not in a year’s time, but now, despite the economical crisis.

In the middle ages people believed in Dragons, and created legends that described brave men who fought them.

In Bulgarian, Russian, Polish, Serbian mythologies those creatures had between one and seven heads, lizard-like bodies, ten horns. Two pairs of legs, and wings. They could fly fast and blew fire from its mouth. Dangerous and aggressive, would place tributes on villages, demanding gold.

Their heads would regrow if cut off. One head would come back as two or more. The only way to kill the monster was to treat its neck with fire.

Just like Decision Making. If you don’t solve a problem, finish a project you work on, and procrastinate, it will come back to you multiplied.

The difficulties will regrow like the heads of the dragon.

According to the most accomplished Formula 1 racing drivers including Michael Schumacher, there is a driver whose talent and accomplishments have not been beaten by anybody yet. That man broke many records including the youngest triple World Champion (he was 31 years and 227 days old at that time) or the most consecutive pole positions – 8. If you are a Formula 1 fan, you will know how difficult that it is. Pole position is the number one starting place, that the drivers fight for. Your starting position may define your final one.

We are talking about Ayrton Senna. Born in Brazil in 1960, drove his first go-kart at the age of four. To moment of his death in 1994 at Tamburello corner of the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, he had become a three-time Formula 1 World Champion, placed his car on pole position for 65 times (a then-record), 41 times won the races, and more.

What made Senna so massively successful in such short period of time? (only 10 years of Formula 1 racing, from 1984-1994). The Formula 1 experts like Martin Brundle (who was a F1 driver himself, and is a F1 commentator for BBC from 2009), say that he had unbelievable talent for fast and perfect driving, orientation, intuition.

But talent plays a small role in the formation of great accomplishments. It is like a raw diamond that remains insignificant until it is converted into a gem through cutting, which requires skill, as diamonds are hard and brittle. Just like the diamond cutting, Formula 1 racing requires high level of skills and dedication to accomplish anything. A raw diamond in itself does not present a high value.

How do you manage to improve in a stressful environment?

There are certain character traits that are important like dedication, passion for winning and the mechanics of the car, hard work( he started racing as a young boy). Those elements were important but still not enough. There was something else that finally defined him as the champion.

Ayrton Senna, to become better than his rivals and improve skills, worked on his body and mind. Physical fitness accompanied by sharp intelligence and concentration became unbeatable.

That third part- his ability to concentrate during races, was the key to his incredible success, when the smallest mistake in driving could have lead to big troubles,. An ability to remove the  insignificant thoughts from his mind, was the defining factor. It lead to the greater speed, precision and winnings.

How to achieve that? How to be able to concentrate only on the task you work on, and not on stress, other tasks that need to be done, exterior sounds, etc?

Concentration, a skill that can be learned, helps you remove from your thoughts  that what you do not need. You begin to operate your own mind. There are simple exercises that lead to the groundbreaking results.

Ayrton Senna worked on his concentration continuously.

Before a particular race, he would sit on a couch and think only about the coming event. In his thoughts, he would drive the car from the start to finish, every single corner, felt the speed, imagined the way his bolid would behave, his own reactions of emotional power, certainty and physical strength. He saw himself winning, overtaking other drivers, perfectly aligned with the car. It took him about one hour. He would usually repeat it.

The scientists that deal with human brain discovered that it does not differentiate between an imagined event and a situation that you really experience. They say, that visualizations equal real life situations. If you react emotionally to them, your brain would send similar signals to the cells of your body and memory.

It leads to a powerful conclusion… when you imagine an event, you make it highly possible for your mind to create it in the “real” world in the future. That is what Ayrton Senna did.

Plus… when he thought about a coming race, he absolutely closed his mind to anything else. And then… during the race, it was much easier to bring the concentration back, and to remove the stress produced by the elements like the screaming fans, other people, sounds, the possible problems, his own pain.

He was once asked about his state of mind during racing. He replied:

“It’s always a task for me,” he said, “given my personality characteristics, my education, and my weaknesses and my strong points. But it is fundamental to concentrate as deep as I can and therefore isolate all outside interference — the fans, the people around me.

“Being able to go in that direction, I somehow can get in a level where I am ahead of the next corner. Ahead of its braking, of changing down, of applying the power. So it lets me predict what is ahead, what I’m going to face and to correct it before it actually occurs.”

What are the possible results of this simple exercise? Senna showed one of the scenarios:

His accomplishments were mentioned above. They lead to  financial fortune, which allowed him to support his native Brazil. He gave away over $400 million to children charities, to help them achieve their full potential as persons and professionals.

A Boeing 767 with 231 people aboard, flying from Newark’s Liberty airport to Warsaw’s Okecie airport had to make an emergency landing.
The problems started about half-hour into the flight.The pilot realized that the hydraulic system did not work which resulted in the blockage of the wheels. If there were no wheels to land on, the plane had to land on its belly. Most of such situations lead to tragic crashes, as the Boeing 767 weights nearly 90 tons.

Even 3 to 4 minutes before the landing the captain still believed that the landing gear would open.
But it did not.
The wheels remained silent.
The captain switched off the automatic pilot, and took the control over. He knew that he was the only one who could have saved his own and the other 230 passengers’ lives.

How do you behave in such situations?
~ you do exactly what the standard landing requires, with the wheels down… but you “Execute to Perfection”( denverpost.com) the captain Tadeusz Wrona said.

One slightly wrong move and the plane would have crushed, killing all aboard.
The pilot dropped the fuel and decided to touch the ground. The Polish LOT Airlines Boeing 767 landed as smoothly as if nothing had happened. No one was hurt and the plane had its structure intact.

The captain of the jet Tadeusz Wrona and the first officer Jerzy Szwarc had the lives of 231 people in their hands.

What leads to such mastery?
How do you remain calm and professional, when the stress nearly blinds your eyes?

Captain Tadeusz Wrona pointed out the importance of training. The pilots spend tens of hours each year on simulators. They learn over and over again how to control the planes, their own emotions, behave in critical situations, how to land the jets on water, without wheels, with the engines shut off… to the point of remembering the steps by heart, with closed eyes. They visualize and imagine themselves going through the critical moments while remaining calm and fully concentrated.

If you train it over and over again, you mind will follow it when the real challenge appears. The critically important thing is to train your emotions. The simulators or even visualizations will never fully cover the unexpected situations. Train your concentration.
In challenging moments you will focus on what you want- the best outcome possible.
And make it happen.

The products focus on their purpose- satisfying your needs, and fast.

Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.

They give you space for your own thoughts. You listen to music, or use your Mac computer without the energy consuming process of concentrating on the machine itself. You just listen… that frees your mind and allows you to do more of what you want, and become more of who you are…

You have a piece of land. It is a meadow, but you dream about having a garden – full of trees.

You dig a hole, not too deep and narrow, just as deep as the environment where the trees were originally grown. You take the tree, put it into the hole and cover it with soil. Water it.

For days and months you look on your piece of ground, and what you notice there is not really attractive, neither it resembles the trees you want to have. What you see are the tiny tubes with the trees hidden inside, so they can grow without too much exposure to sun or wind. But you keep going…

You water the ground, and occasionally add some fertilizers. You know that you worked well while digging the holes, you gave them the right environment so the roots could grow, and the trees might be stronger later.

The scene is still everything but the trees..

But you give them the right care from the day one. You look after the roots, so they can spread out in the soil. You avoid “glazing”. It may happen when the soil –skin that covers the bottom and sides of a hole hardens so that the roots cannot reach water or grow. You water the ground… and add the root promoting fertilizers or fungi.

Day after day, season after season, your trees become stronger and bigger. You see and hear birds coming to sit on the branches, and cherish the shadow that it gives.

You will love its fruits.

Work and patience will pay off
